NGC 1760
An emission nebula and vast star-forming region — in fact a complex ring of emission nebulae linked by glowing filaments, more than 1,000 light-years across, lying about 160,000 light-years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud, in the constellation Dorado.
NGC 1761 (also designated LH9) consists of roughly fifty massive, young, hot stars whose intense ultraviolet radiation has carved out a great cavity around them — these are among the most massive stars known. The bright region above center is N11B, another eruptive area that is still forming stars today.
