Comet ZTF Meets Mars

This close encounter between the comet and Mars was captured by fellow astrophotographer Li-Yang Hsu (許立揚) at Beipu, Hsinchu; I spent some time bringing out the result. Compared with ten days earlier, the ion tail had clearly shortened and faded, and the overall brightness had dropped to around magnitude 7 — while Mars, by contrast, blazed away.
