The seventh day of the seventh lunar month is almost here. On this most romantic of festivals, Chinese folklore tells of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, kept apart on opposite banks of the Milky Way, who are allowed to meet on this one day of the year and no other.
This image shows not the two lovers, but a rose blooming in the heavens — the Rosette Nebula (NGC 2237). May all lovers everywhere find their way to one another, and a happy Valentine's Day to you all.
